Here's an overview of my background:
Although for my Bachelor's degree I studied Government and Politics at the University of Tartu (2017–2020), I've always had an interest in design. Especially the kind of design which deals with the bigger picture and tries to solve a problem. The studies showed me the importance of understanding and analysing context.
The journey to becoming a great designer is long, probably lifelong. To help myself with my progress, I decided to join the Master's program of the Estonian Academy of Arts, Interaction Design (2020–2023). This is an open and creative environment for self-development, yet always has a problem to solve – designing for humans.
Besides academic studies, I've had some sort of an entrepreneurial side to me as well. Back in high school, I started my design career as a freelancer (2016–2018) and named myself Zhakoop. Early on, I focused on working with real clients and challenges. This helped me to gain a more realistic view of the field and progress faster.
For the next venture, I co-founded a design studio with a great friend of mine, Mikko Leo Selg. We called it Homne (Estonian for tomorrow). Because we wanted to create a better tomorrow! After two years (2018–2020) of hard work and awesome memories, we decided to seek new and exciting opportunities. Every ending is a new beginning!
Currently (2021–...), my journey to becoming a great designer – and one day a leader – has continued in Pipedrive as a Product Designer. Like they say if you want to go far, go together.
